Accurate laboratory measurements,

efficient production

Precise determination of pellet moisture is the basic prerequisite for optimised production processes. Knowing the exact residual moisture ensures consistent product quality and resource-saving plastic drying.
The HydroTracer HT3 is ideal for moisture measurement in modern plastics processing:

Precise: Accurate measurement results with outstanding repeatability

Simple: The step-by-step instructions and a software wizard make set-up straightforward

Fast: The residual moisture is indicated after just 8 minutes

Reliable: The automatic end point determination ensures meticulously accurate and reliable measurement results

Flexible: Whether in production, in the laboratory or even on the move - the HydroTracer HT3 delivers precise values everywhere

Made for the measurement of trace moisture...

...developed for the processing industry. The HT3 is unrivalled in precision and enables the water content to be measured down to single-digit ppm. From plastic granulate or powder to recycled material and regrind (flakes) to fibres, films and finished parts - the HT3 is versatile and always delivers the most precise moisture measurements.

Fibres

Nylon (Polyamid), Polyacrylic (PAN), Polyester (PES), Polypropylene (PP), Polyehtylene (PE)

Injection moulded parts

Checking the moisture content before and after conditioning, e.g. for polyamide 6 (PA 6) or polyamide 6.6 (PA 6.6)

Foils

Polyethylene (PE, LDPE, HDPE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polycarbontate (PC), polyethylene naphthalate (PEN)

Flakes

As part of the recycling of post-industrial recyclate (PIR) and post-consumer recyclate (PCR), e.g. polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PET, PC, ABS, SAN

Granules

Standard thermoplastics, engineering thermoplastics, high-performance thermoplastics, bio-based thermoplastics

Powder

Plastic powder e.g. PEEK, PA12, PA11, TPU, TPA
Metal powder e.g. aluminium, hard metal

Water selective and highly precise

Highest precision means not only accurate measurement, but also unadulterated measurement. The HT3 does not measure just any residual moisture, but only that caused by water. This is innovation at its best - because until now, water-selective measurement was only possible with expensive and complex laboratory measuring devices. The HT3 delivers the highest quality analysis, as with Karl Fischer titration in the laboratory, suitable for everyday use in any location.
Due to the calcium hydride method, other volatile components in the granulate do not influence the measurement result, enabling us to achieve highly precise, water-selective measurements. Patented test pads make it easy to add reagents. With the HydroTracer HT3, accurate laboratory measurements are therefore very simple - without sacrificing precision.

Precision can be so simple!

This is because the HT3 software is intuitive, user-friendly and enables comprehensive documentation of the measurement results. A large material library for common plastics ensures a simple measurement process right from the startWith simple instructions, text and images, the user is guided through each test. In less than 2 minutes, the HydroTracer is ready to deliver fast, uncomplicated and precise results.  A clearly structured report of the measurement data is saved as a PDF to guarantee complete documentation of your residual moisture measurements.

How does it work?

With calcium hydride - like this:

  1. A material sample is placed in the sample pan and heated. Water evaporates from the sample.
  2. The moist gas rises into the upper, cooled area of the measuring chamber.
  3. The calcium hydride measuring powder contained in a capsule reacts with the water to produce hydrogen.
  4. The gas sensor measures the hydrogen concentration, which corresponds to the amount of water introduced.
  5. The cooled, dry gas sinks into the lower part of the measuring chamber and can absorb water again.

With this unique process, our system can measure hydrogen directly and thus reliably detect even the smallest amounts of water in a wide variety of samples. This makes our moisture measurement particularly precise, water-selective and fast.
